Tyson was born in Chalsie-Veneer. He doesn’t talk about it, but he calls Cat and the locals of Dire Lonato “healthies” which is what the Water Curses call them. He grew up hearing the term and is the only one in Fire Town to use it.
It probably won’t even come through in the final text, but it’s fun to include if only for my sake and anyone reading this post in the future
Writing at Kaldis. Aiden is bored out of his mind. He’s been sitting in the exact same spot in this wagon for the past couple months while I try to chew through this scene! Ah the life of a novelist.
Aiden shirtless… and mostly skinless. I intend to color this later, but here’s a photo of the lines. Aiden’s a Fire Curse and is covered in burns, especially anywhere bone or blood lies near the skin.
Ladies of the Valley; Ildri in Fire Town
Ildri is a compassionate Fire Curse with a big heart and a calm disposition. She takes care of all the kids under 10 when they show up in Fire Town and helps find them good roommates in town. Her boyfriend Aiden has an angry streak, but Ildri can calm him down when he gets riled up. In that way she’s probably saved his life because extremes of emotion can cause burns or even spontaneous combustion in Fire Curses their age.
Hard to believe I’m back in Fire Town again. I feel like I’ve spent my whole life in Fire Town. Here are ildri and aiden reacting.

Still trying to get rid of sharon. this is heather and nina, they are fire curses. in the process of removing sharon from the draft, heather is picking up a couple of her jobs. At this point anyway I might give them to ildri and aiden
I was doodling Threadcaster during Sunday School. These are a pair of Fire Curses, Tyson and Heather. Tyson has anger issues, which is very bad for a Fire Curse since they are temperature sensitive and their blood is on fire. Heather is more skittish and defensive which is marginally better but not much. They are teens, which means they are getting close to the end of their lives…these are the kind of people Cat is trying to connect with on her journey.
